a journey

Lord Jesus you shall be my song as i journey.

july 5- 4:30 .
awake. the sun is up behind the cliffs. the sky is colours of pink. i step outside & take a deep breath. the day is perfect. today my stuffed bags, nerves & lack of sleep depart upon this journey. i take it all in. my little room. my house. i pat my dog & i wonder if i'll see him again. we drive my favourite road. its the one i live on. sometimes wildflowers grow in the ditches & on days a person needed joy one could drive & watch the sunlight filter through the trees. today a deer stood back by that old house that always makes me wonder what kind of memories a family once made there. my town of Armstrong was waking up & as we drove i wished the ones i saw a good day inside my head. each time i drive this highway to kelowna & view kalamaka lake & her turquoise colours, i think of how lucky i have been to have grown up in this land. i like to think God smiled big when He created this valley. airports bring out all the emotions inside of me & as predicted they really didn't show up till we arrived at ylw. i was indeed leaving & no it was not just one big dream.
i love you, mom & dad. thank-you for supporting me.
and maybe i walked away with some tears you will just have to be ok without that information.
Calgary. the first stop in my journey. before i began i just had to grab one more timmies. it was worth it. coffee fueled & all belongings gathered i walked out towards the little plane that would take me away from my mountain home. i watched as the valley i called home disappeared & soon i recognized nothing. this leaving thing really happened. my heart was a little sad. i was handed two celebration cookies. i smiled. for those uneducated a celebration cookie is a butter cookie with a hard milk chocolate layer coating the top. perfect for smores or if you know me i think they make a perfect snack. things like this do just really bring me joy. so flight 3160 with service to calgary was a great success.
security. customs, where i had a good laugh with the officer. & finally my gate. the hunt for an outlet was truly a great challenge but a successful one. a smoothie & then we were boarding.
flight 1572 with service to Houston.
success.
houston. chick-fil-a my long-lost buddy was a perfect spot for food. i found a lovely place to sit & watch as aircraft flew out on their journey in a steady stream. as exhausted as i was, i longed to be outside on a very long walk in the fresh air. sadly that just wasn't possible.
& then it happened i boarded that last & final flight.
these nerves might get the best of me.
